Welcome to Coleman’s Classroom, an inclusive English endeavor to engage, educate, and empower everyone.

As a writing and language instructor in Southern California, I am dedicated to the importance of having excellence in the English language usage for writing, speaking, listening, and reading as well as the necessary study skills required for collegiate success. Empowering students to be the masters of their own writing is one of the best aspects of my job!

Moreover, as an ESL instructor, I am providing so much more than language; I am also facilitating culture and connections as I strive to help my students, all students, my people, all people, succeed in life.

2019 is going to be an exciting year for me professionally! In addition to my normal teaching load, I will be blogging monthly in my new Year Under the Tree, posting weekly on my Wednesday Words of Wisdom youtube videos, and finishing my two verb books.  I am embracing the words of the late Steve Irwin, when he said, “I believe that education is all about being excited about something. Seeing passion and enthusiasm helps push an educational message.” Well, I have both passion and enthusiasm in abundance and I have an educational message as well; everyone can become a competent writer with diligent practice and deliberate effort. I also believe that knowledge is inclusive and there is a place for everyone, every belief in my classroom. If a student is willing to learn, then I am willing to teach.

John Steinbeck once wrote, “A great teacher is a great artist. Teaching might even be the greatest of arts since the medium is the human mind and spirit.”

So, if you want to see what I’m doing these days, check out my YouTube page, go read my blog, follow me on Instagram or Facebook, or think about contributing to my latest book.
